Imagine being a little girl at school and being subjected in the playground to things the boys have learnt in class from their teachers. Imagine how you'd feel afterwards. Suicidal maybe? And no one listens and you don't even have the words to explain. Then it comes to light what has happened and you get blamed as the perpetrator and you don't even know what you are doing and in your bewiderment you cry out to God. Next day - all the schools close. You might be one very happy little girl again.

Or imagine being trapped in the house with an abusive spouse or pedophile parent or grandparent 24/7. It is real and it is happening.

My comment to my mums best friend when she said my step daughters abuser was "not really a JW" was, how odd that the entire circuit considered him one for 30 years and many were disfellowshipped by him in that time" and "how convenient that now he's been jailed he is just a professed JW". "Don't any real JW sin?"

Truly sickening and a blatant display of cognitive dissonance.

Also props to the younger "brother" that shook John's hand twice. He will be out in a few years.

"I enjoyed holiday with you many times John" then 15 seconds later, "Nice to meet you John".

Have You Lost Any “Friends” Because Of Your Political Views?

i have lost a couple of fb friends.

i have had conversations with many of my friends regarding politics and since we generally view politics in the same way, there is little dissension.

however i do have some friends that don’t see things properly, my way, and i still like them.🤗lol....i know of some families that have stopped talking to each other because of something as stupid as political differences..

These past few months, my own feelings and thoughts on things have been the greatest disturbance to me. Nevermind what everyone else is saying.

I have gone off of social media and refuse to listen to the news anymore.

Yet here I am posting in this forum.

I chalk it up to being somewhat of a lifeline to a community I like to believe I have much in common with when much of the time I still feel like the outcast the cult wishes for and like a lonely orphaned child in the real world.

The world around us may be going through a rough spell. Honestly, its nothing like the suffering as a JW and the long journey to find the way out for most of us.

Politics evolve. Even our own views on them will over time. Surviving a cult is an experience unique to each of us and should bring into balance any challenges we face moving forward through life and politics and the individuals we will interact with along the way.

i will try to post a link.. jtg.. australia.. institutions refusing to join the national redress scheme are "doubling down" on the crime of child sexual abuse, prime minister scott morrison says.. mr morrison and social services minister anne ruston have warned institutions they may lose funding and tax concessions if they fail to sign up by tuesday's deadline and will be named and shamed.. "all institutions are doing in not joining is doubling down on the crime and doubling down on the hurt," they said in a letter to 25 institutions.. "we consider it to be reprehensible that you have failed to sign up to the scheme.".

the jehovah's witnesses is among the organisations that has refused to sign up, arguing it does not have the institutional settings of other faith-based institutions that the redress scheme is designed to cover.. senator ruston is set to name the non-participating institutions on wednesday, when she will announce what action the federal government will take against them.. "we urge you to join the scheme not because of concerns about being identified, but because it is the right thing to do," the minister and mr morrison said.. "it is the right thing to do by survivors and their families and it is what every, decent, honest, australian demands.".

Your arguments are accurately strong. However, the court of public opinion will weigh differently. And speaking as someone with close family ties to the continent I can tell you the fall out for JWs is exponentially worse than any law of the land could compel.

This is no accident and the commission knows very well how its agenda will ultimately hurt the JWs (and others like them) bottom line across the states of Aus.

Revisit this theme in 5 years time and I assure you the JWs wont be a blip on the map of organized religion on the island.

Is Silent Lambs and Bill Bowen still relevant?

when i joined this forum in 2004, silent lambs was a very important venue for those who suffered the crime of child abuse in the jehovah's witness religion.

bill bowen was instrumental in exposing a lot of the cover up along with barbara anderson.

i was wondering if silent lambs is still relevant and does it still help abuse victims?.

Bill was a pillar in the ExJW scene for many many years and no reason not to still consider him so. He helped a lot of people.

Like every prominent ExJW he came with his controversies. It really doesn't bother me.

Bill and those like him can not carry the torch forever. They blazed a trail. It's up to younger generations to pick up the ball. And they are.

I find satisfaction seeing these hard ballers fade away out of the limelight. It means they are probably completely free from the dark shadow the Watchtower cast over our/their lives.

An Ex ExJW is to me one of life's greatest accomplishments.
